BINGO!
BINGO!
BINGO!
Though I hardly knew you, nor did I take the time to get to know you better, I dedicate these gorgeous Tuesday morning skies over NIST to you. Like me, perhaps even more so, you dedicated your life to science. I passed you in the hallways numerous times without uttering a word. To a life gone too soon, this post is for you James Baker-Jarvis. God bless your soul and may he watch over your family forever.
The anticipation is KILLING me! Let me note that "day 13" refers to the number of calendar days since I started. On the stopwatch, it seems to be right on schedule with what I expected, 25-30 hours. Finding time to work on this thing has proven to be much more difficult than I thought, however I managed to make good progress today. I completed the extruder and got it mounted, now I'm just waiting on the replacement parts and then I'll be just hours away from getting it running.
Don't get me wrong, we've loved every one of our pets with all of our hearts, but Stanley was different. From the very first day that we brought him home, he assumed the position of the alpha male, watching over his pride of three other cats. He performed that duty with so much confidence. He had the back of each and every member of this family, but there was no other duty he took more seriously than the one of 'most fierce guardian' over his "Momma," my wife. Stanley made sure she was safe at every turn, from the second her foot hit the floor. He would faithfully stand sentry on the front porch every time she was away. Every night, Stan slept right in between our pillows in the master bedroom, tickling our noses with his tail every now and then. Now, only 8 short years later, we had to let him go.
I made a little more progress today. I got the belts installed and the sides. put on. All that's left is to install the control panel, extruder, and the print bed. I did hear back today from 3D systems and they are sending me a new bed frame and build platform to replace the faulty ones it came with.
The X and Y carriages are assembled. The bed is next, but I need them to ship me one with the correct dimensions. The one I got is off by 3mm in one dimension.
Love how much I can get done when there isn't a dozen different people interrupting me! I probably only got 8 hours in on this project between Wednesday and Friday. Today, I got the frame assembled as well as the Z-axis drive. Tomorrow I will come in and work on X and Y.
